How come Meta logo looks like 8kun/8chan?
Anyone can create Twitter sized de-centralized social media with Bluesky?
One day looking at the logo of Meta, this idea struck me:
How come the Meta’s logo looks sort of like 8 chan or 8 kun?
Could this be a signal from white hats (or whatever you call) to let anons know that one of the largest social networks is being transformed into something that is fair and square to all of us?
So, I wrote up this Japanese article a few days ago for my Japanese audience. But, I wanted to write up an English version to share with broader audience.
Facebook has been shutting down their secretive projects
Although our beloved all talk no action Ted Cruz grilled CEOs from the big tech companies in house hearings over and over, no consequence ever hit them… At least to the public eyes.
But, for the optic reason, it would make sense to do this transformation while Mark Zuckerberg etc are still in charge.
Facebook wanted to read your mind
In April 2016 (before Trump was inaugurated), Facebook started building a Brain-Machine interface to read your mind (so that you can type faster!).
Facebook even hired a former DARPA director, Regina Dugan, to head up its secretive Building 8 research lab between 2016 and 2018, when it dissolved the lab into separate projects called Portal and Reality Labs.
Sputnik
What was Regina up to?
Today at F8, Facebook revealed it has a team of 60 engineers working on building a brain-computer interface that will let you type with just your mind without invasive implants. The team plans to use optical imaging to scan your brain a hundred times per second to detect you speaking silently in your head, and translate it into text.
Regina Dugan, the head of Facebook’s R&D division Building 8, explained to conference attendees that the goal is to eventually allow people to type at 100 words per minute, 5X faster than typing on a phone, with just your mind.
TechCrunch
Reading your mind? 😂😂😂 Not for me thanks!
Facebook wanted to listen to you through your skin
Meanwhile, Building 8 is working on a way for humans to hear through their skin. It’s been building prototypes of hardware and software that let your skin mimic the cochlea in your ear that translates sound into specific frequencies for your brain. This technology could let deaf people essentially “hear” by bypassing their ears.
Wow.
…but 🤔 the microphone in the phone is already doing this, right? I happen to have a professional neuroscience background. This is not hearing the source through microphone. This is about how your brain interpret/understand/emotionally react to that sound. That’s what they are after. And reverting back to the sound is just a part of information that they can retrieve from all these brain scan they are putting on our head. This is not an easy task but to some extend, they will succeed doing this. Especially emotional reaction part will be probably doable. And if you can type through bran scan, they will also decipher what you hear part.
But somehow, about 10 months into Trump presidency, and around the time Q came up, Regina suddenly announced to leave Facebook.🤔
In October 2017, Dugan announced she would be leaving Facebook in early 2018 to focus on building and leading a new endeavor.[4]
Basically, this whole secretive research branch in Building 8 (F8) seemed to be abandoned around Dec 2018.
According to a report today from Business Insider, Building 8 has been disbanded, with its projects redistributed to new teams within the company’s augmented and virtual reality division.
Facebook was working on their own OS (XROS)
Facebook doesn’t want its hardware like Oculus or its augmented reality glasses to be at the mercy of Google because they rely on its Android operating system. That’s why Facebook has tasked Mark Lucovsky, a co-author of Microsoft’s Windows NT, with building the social network an operating system from scratch, according to The Information’s Alex Heath.
So, this was 2019… But now in Jan 2022, they gave it up too.
The Information reported the news today, saying the company formerly named Facebook suspended development of a project called XROS — named after XR, an umbrella term for AR / VR — in November.
So, ever since Trump came in, Facebook’s efforts to create a powerful monitoring device have been gradually shutting down and no good explanations have been given to the investors and general public.
8 chan to 8 kun: 93 of darkness
This was posted to 8 chan, and soon the last post to chan was posted:
If Dan [C]oats is forced to leave, it would mean that DECLAS is imminent. On August 15, 2019, Dan Coats resigned. DS panic and 8 chan goes dark.
[93 days] later since the last post 3570, Q comes back to 8 kun.
But still, 8 kun continues to have issues on clearnet…
Then the rumor has it that DoD is aiding the connection nodes to the Russian servers where 8 kun is hosted, which reddit shills tried hard to debunk.
Brennan, 8 chan maintainer, also tried to sway it by saying these IP addresses starting with 11 can be just private network addresses (not on the internet).
Well… possible but also not conclusive.
8 chan / 8kun / Mata connection
8 chan turned into 8 kun…
and now Meta came along with the logo looking like chan/kun.
If some white hats in DoD helped the transition from 8 chan to 8 kun, so does the transition from Facebook to Meta?
Is this a far fetching conjecture? I am paying attention to 8 shaped logo because Q talked about Ghidra in the drop 4106.
Ghidra is an open source reverse engineering tool developed by NSA. Tou can sniff into binary files to look for sneaky spyware/malware etc.
Notice the similarity of the snake head between 8kun and Ghidra.
If they are not forced by Q/Trump, is Facebook deliberately trashing all the product development efforts leading to the infamous total information awareness (TIA, DARPA project)?
What is brewing behind the scene?
IET 17 (my fav anon😍) posted this to We The Media.
Basically the last 3 min of the Trump presidency, someone transferred the ownership of millions of Pentagon’s IP addresses to a Florida based company (Global Resource Systems, LLC) according to BusinessInsider.
And those IP addresses include 11.11.18.* range (it was not 2018 Nov 11th but IP address!).
This looks extremely useful to hedge against the de-platforming efforts from the BigTech companies for the Trump’s TRUTH Social.
Twitter is working on something that goes against them
Twitter is working on this block-chain based new technology called Bluesky which can provide the foundation for decentralized social network services.
According to Tech Crunch article, Jay Graber, the lead developer of Bluesky project, describes its advantage as follows:
“The really powerful thing about Twitter doing a decentralized protocol move is that if you could design a protocol that works in an ideal way, you don’t have to go through the initial effort of finding the niche to bootstrap from because Twitter will bring so many users,” Graber told us.
What? Opening up twitters’ huge users to new competitors? Kidding me?
If this is true, then anyone can do the kind of experiment below:
In this case, this developer Dan Hughes imported all Trumps’ tweet before it was taken down. But if Twitter releases all the user data through Bluesky, then anyone can build a new social network service with all the Twitter’s users imported.
And look what Jack had to say on Bluesky.
As Larry points out, Bluesky will ruin all the advantages of Twitter’s dominance in the social network business (if honestly implemented). And, somehow that’s what Jack wants. He even says this:
Jack: And don’t trust us. That’s the entire point.
Hey, what’s going on?
I suspect that Bluesky might resolve section 230 issue for all social media companies.
Moderation that any company would do can be viewed subjective and biased by some parties. This is probably an inherent problem of moderation. Then, one way to resolve it might be to let anyone to create a Twitter sized social network based on Bluesky user databases and then let each company do their moderation. Users can then choose the best social media platform that fits their taste. Let the market decide the best censorship/moderation users like.
Or, Twitter is just trying to go ahead of de-centralization trend just in case that is unavoidable?
Is GETTR already querying into Bluesky?
Joe Rogan created an account on GETTR. A half million users followed him there. But then GETTR shows that Joe Rogan has more than 8 million followers.
GETTR as whole does not have 8 million users (~4 millions). How would that be possible?
If you click on Followers tab, you would see a disclaimer saying Joe Rogan also has 7.9M followers from Twitter. Why do you do this GETTR?
Well, this can be done by querying into Twitter’s public API. But still, why do they want to include the number from Twitter users? Are they going to do a merger? Most certainly not.
Is it only me who thinks this might be a predictive conditioning for the time when social media services operate on Bluesky as back-end?
GETTR = Get her = Get Twitter?
So, don’t be too surprised if you see on the launch day TRURH Social comes with massive users from Twitter / GETTR / Meta combined in one platform.
Section 230?
But, Twitter and Meta both don’t have to do this, right? Then, who is forcing them?
“We are pleased with today’s ruling, as it’s the next step toward justice for our clients who suffered because of Twitter’s decision to allow their child sexual abuse material to circulate on its platform. No tech company should be allowed to profit from and outright ignore child sexual abuse material,” said Peter Gentala, senior legal counsel for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
Twitter, Facebook, Google…. they all were at the precipice… nearly loosing their section 230 status under the Trump administration. If devolution is true, someone maybe still pushing them to do what they agreed in closed door hearing or something.
But somehow they managed to censor (optics?)… But behind the scene, they are also doing something that they would never want to do.
Who is forcing them to the latter part?
In May 2020, Trump issued an EO preventing online-censorship.
Ironically, the original URL for this EO is censored with 404 error code.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-preventing-online-censorship
This report from the congressional research service summarizes how it might be implemented.
FTC Enforcement
Another potentially important provision in the EO is Section 4 and its contemplation of an enforcement role for the FTC—an agency with the dual mission of protecting consumers and promoting competition in the marketplace—with respect to online platforms. The EO only directs the FTC to “consider” taking action, possibly because the Supreme Court has described the FTC as independent from executive authority, other than in the President’s selection of commissioners. However, the Commission could potentially, on its own accord, bring an enforcement action against entities covered by Section 230. However, if the FTC took such an action it would need to clear two hurdles: it would need to show that the company’s content moderation practices (1) are deceptive or unfair and (2) fall outside of Section 230’s liability shield.
So, is it the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that actually is forcing the bastards do the right things (and also independent from the Biden’s executive authority)?
Along with “deceptive” conduct, the FTC could bring an enforcement action if it believes a company’s content moderation practices are “unfair.” To establish unfairness, the FTC would have to show, among other things, that the conduct “causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers.” It may be difficult for the FTC to establish that a company’s content moderation practices causes substantial injury, however, because the agency has said that injury under the unfairness prong is largely limited to “monetary harm” or “health and safety risks.”
But… I have not seen FTC warning Twitter / Facebook /Google about the safe and effective injections not actually being safe. Maybe not?
Who else can force them? 🤔🤔
The twitter / facebook / instagram etc posts are public in general. Do you think it would be technically challenging for NSA to crawl and store all public feeds? Would it be difficult for NSA to provide a complete social media databases through the APIs that are 100% compatible to Bluesky? If that is coming anyway, Twitter may want to do it by themselves to keep a better control of narratives?
The only remaining thing would be the legality to share data other social media. FCC / FCT / supreme court decision?
I will just leave it right this…
On March 14th, GETTR announced this. Now you can easily cross post to Twitter from GETTR. Anons at WTM are not buying this. We are all kicked out from Twitter in the first place. That’s why we are on GETTR…
But if the whole point is to smear the differences between social media branding, posts are more interchangeable between GETTR, Twitter and Truth Social. Then we can reach more liberals to deliver our messages, right?
??? Did I just get an endorsement from @jack for what I argued in this article? Users will choose which kind of moderation they can accept not the user base via Bluesky shared DB?
